Comstock Metals Celebrates First Sales of Renewable Metals
Comstock Inc. (NYSE: LODE) and its subsidiary, Comstock Metals Corporation, a pioneer in recycling end-of-life solar panels into reusable materials, have recently announced their initial shipments and revenues. The company has successfully sold over 3,000 pounds of recycled aluminum, marking the start of regular shipments. The aluminum recovery process is expected to yield about 10 to 15 percent of the input weight from solar panels, with initial sales exceeding fifty cents per pound for these aluminum scrap grades.
CEO Reflects on Initial Success
Corrado De Gasperis, Executive Chairman and CEO, commented, "Last quarter, we recognized our first intake revenue from processing end-of-life solar panels. Our team has effectively demonstrated our capability to process clean, fully salable materials while maintaining our zero-landfill commitment. We have established partnerships with various customer groups for these recovered materials, recently completing our first order and closing the loop on our efforts to generate revenue on both ends."
Growth of Operations
Comstock Metals operates a demonstration facility in Silver Springs and is currently in the process of obtaining permits for an expansion designed to meet the growing demands of the solar industry. With the newly permitted capacity to store significant volumes of solar panels, Comstock Metals is well-positioned to take the lead in the recycling of solar panels. This strategy focuses on minimizing electronic waste and improving the recovery and reuse of essential materials.
Building a Renewable Supply Chain
Dr. Fortunato Villamagna, President of Comstock Metals, stated, "Our demonstration facility has initiated a renewable supply chain that generates primary revenues through the environmental service of processing waste panels while fully recycling the materials for reuse. This approach creates a secondary revenue stream that significantly benefits our operations." The company is actively collaborating with suppliers and off-take customers to secure long-term, high-volume supply agreements.
