A Collaborative Initiative for Housing Solutions
Next-generation homes built for strength, more thoroughly insulated, and dramatically reduce energy bills.
Build Your Fortress, a leader in the innovative HyPerformance Structural Insulated Panels™ sector, has partnered with a nonprofit consortium to create the Homes of Honor initiative. This program is dedicated to addressing housing challenges faced by vulnerable populations.
Combining Forces for Community Uplift
Build Your Fortress is collaborating with nonprofits including BLAC PAC, Customized Veterans Group (CVG), and Customized Medical Needs LLC in the Homes of Honor program. Their goal is to create sustainable and impactful solutions that uplift entire communities, especially among populations that have previously faced significant hardships.
“We are thrilled to partner with Build Your Fortress. They bring strong momentum as we work together to support our most vulnerable community members, including military veterans, law enforcement officers, firefighters, and educators,” said Antwane Bohanon, chairman of BLAC PAC. “We believe that the expertise of the Build Your Fortress team will be invaluable in fulfilling our mission to address housing, as well as needs in healthcare and employment.”
Fostering Purpose and Resilience
Danny J. Triplett, CEO of BLAC PAC, remarked, “This partnership is about fostering purpose and resilience, providing veterans with the essential tools they need to overcome internal battles and secure a brighter future. Our efforts will effectively create stable housing and job opportunities for veterans, significantly impacting their lives.”
Innovative Housing Solutions
Build Your Fortress utilizes advanced structural insulated panel technology that promotes energy efficiency and durability. These innovative homes are designed to be constructed in a fraction of the time required by traditional building methods, according to BYF principal Dr. Travis Fox.
"Our approach is not just environmentally friendly; it also allows for quicker and more robust construction,” said Dr. Fox. “For example, in our current partnership with Habitat for Humanity, we were able to complete framing in just a few hours.”
Preparing for Extreme Weather
With the increasing frequency of severe weather events, the robust design of these homes is crucial. Dr. Fox noted, “Our improved structural integrity ensures that these homes can withstand extreme conditions, which is particularly important for communities facing severe weather more often.”
Breaking Ground on New Communities
The Homes of Honor initiative will unfold in two phases. The first phase aims to construct seven homes for veterans, particularly those with backgrounds in law enforcement and firefighting. This phase is scheduled for the beginning of the upcoming year.
Following that, in the third quarter of the year, the program will expand to include an additional 25 homes, emphasizing economic growth and crime reduction in these targeted communities.
“We plan to evaluate over 2,500 land lots in the region for potential new builds,” Bohanon explained. “Our abiding commitment is to eradicate veteran homelessness and ensure no veteran is left behind.”
