Celebrating Heroes This Holiday: The 2025 Season of Hope

2025 Season of Hope Launches with Heartfelt Commitment

The 2025 Season of Hope, a cherished holiday initiative by the Tunnel to Towers Foundation, is here, bringing joy and stability to American heroes and their families. This year, the foundation plans to deliver an impressive 50 forever homes this holiday season, making a significant impact across various communities.

Introducing the Honorees of This Year’s Season of Hope

To kick off this heartfelt campaign, Tunnel to Towers is proudly delivering three mortgage-free homes in Florida, each representing a commendable program aimed at honoring and supporting our heroes:

Honoring Army Major Ivan Castro through the Smart Home Program

In a touching ceremony, Retired Army Major Ivan Castro was presented with a new home in Orlando, Florida. Major Castro's dedication to service spans 28 years, where he distinguished himself as an Army Ranger within the elite Special Forces, commonly known as the Green Berets. His service took him on multiple deployments abroad, including notable missions in Afghanistan and Iraq.

Tragically, during his service in 2006, he sustained injuries from a mortar attack that resulted in permanent blindness. However, his unwavering spirit led him to continue his service, becoming the only blind soldier to serve in Special Forces before retiring. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation enhanced his home’s accessibility and eliminated his mortgage, giving him peace of mind in a transformed living space.

Castro expressed profound gratitude: "Tunnel to Towers has provided me with financial relief, stability, and security. The emotional and psychological support that comes with a home is invaluable, helping to restore my dignity and ease my stress.”

The modifications to his home include advanced smart technology systems, enabling him to control various functions through an app. The enhancements ensure that Major Castro can regain independence and security in his daily life.

Remembering Army Staff Sergeant Adam McHugh through the Gold Star Family Home Program

Army Staff Sergeant Adam McHugh’s service began in 2007, following a proud legacy of military service within his family. Throughout his career, he earned several commendations, reflecting his dedication and bravery. Sadly, his life was cut short due to service-connected cancer, leaving behind his wife, Chelsea, and their two beloved children. Tunnel to Towers stepped in to ensure their home remained secure by paying off their mortgage in full.

Recognizing Delray Beach Fire Lieutenant Ray Keith through the Fallen First Responder Program

Delray Beach Fire Lieutenant Ray Keith joined the fire department in 2016 and was well-regarded for his commitment to community service. Unfortunately, he succumbed to occupational cancer at just 31 years old. He is remembered not only for his bravery but also for his dedication as a family man, surviving by his wife Amanda and their three children. Tunnel to Towers has also ensured that his family’s mortgage is taken care of during this difficult time.

Spreading Hope Across the Nation

The Tunnel to Towers Foundation's mission reaches far beyond these three homes. From December 1 through Christmas Eve, the foundation aims to deliver 50 homes across 24 states, effectively covering substantial parts of the nation. This effort embodies the spirit of giving and gratitude that defines the season.

Frank Siller, Chairman and CEO of Tunnel to Towers, emphasized the profound impact of community: "Thanks to the generosity of fellow Americans, we are able to provide 50 life-changing forever homes this season. It reflects the goodness of America taking care of the heroes who sacrifice everything for our safety.”

The foundation is proud to proclaim that, this year alone, they will deliver over 200 mortgage-free homes to deserving families nationwide.

About the Tunnel to Towers Foundation

Founded in the aftermath of the tragic events of September 11, the Tunnel to Towers Foundation remains steadfast in its commitment to assist Gold Star and fallen first responder families. With a dedicated mission to provide mortgage-free homes and adapt living spaces through smart home technology for catastrophically injured veterans and first responders, the foundation also remains focused on eradicating veteran homelessness. Those who wish to amplify their impact can donate as little as $11 a month, or even consider a car or land donation.
