Celebrating First Responder Families in New York
Cornerstone event gives first responder families a front-row seat to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
First Responders Children's Foundation (FRCF), a national nonprofit dedicated to assisting the children and families of first responders including firefighters, law enforcement, EMS, 911 dispatchers, and corrections officers, proudly honored over 1,500 first responder family members and guests at its 24th annual Thanksgiving celebration.
The Thanksgiving Celebration took place in Manhattan and featured a family fun zone filled with toys, superheroes, delicious treats, and a breakfast ceremony in GH on the Park. The day concluded with a private viewing of the iconic Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. This unforgettable experience was made possible through the generosity of their presenting partner, CSX.
Founded 24 years ago on Thanksgiving morning by Al Kahn, the FRCF aimed to provide community, togetherness, and gratitude towards those families who lost a first responder hero on 9/11. The Foundation’s Thanksgiving Day Parade celebration has become its signature annual event.
Jillian Crane, President & CEO of First Responders Children's Foundation, stated, "We can never forget the reason why we host first responder families on Thanksgiving: nearly 150 first responders died in the line of duty this year, leaving children behind without their hero. Today is a day where we bring comfort to those families, pay tribute, and express our gratefulness to the heroes who run toward danger for us every day. We sincerely appreciate the generosity of our presenting partner CSX; without them, this day would not be possible."
CSX's Vice President of Sustainability and Stakeholder Engagement, Bryan Tucker, remarked, "Supporting first responder families — especially on a day rooted in gratitude — is deeply meaningful to us. Partnering with First Responders Children's Foundation for this special Thanksgiving celebration allows us to provide these families a moment of joy and connection while honoring the legacy of the heroes who dedicated their lives to protecting others."
The First Responder family VIP experience included a morning full of activities, special guests, and heartfelt recognition of first responder families.
