BE OPEN Art, an online gallery established by the humanitarian initiative BE OPEN, is delighted to announce the winners of its Regional Art Competition targeted at recognizing emerging artists. In July, Raúl Cárcamo, a freelance artist and illustrator hailing from El Salvador and currently residing in Dublin, Ireland, was recognized as the Regional Artist of the Month. The following month, Isabella González, a talented visual artist from Honduras and a Savannah College of Art and Design alumni, took the honors for August. By September, Wilson Ilama from Costa Rica, whose vibrant use of color captures serene landscapes, became the next standout artist of the month, garnering enthusiastic support from gallery visitors.
Grand Recognition for Isabella González
Based on her impressive vote tally, Isabella González was named the Artist of the Region for Central America. Born in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, she earned her double B.F.A. in Painting and Fibers at SCAD in 2020. Her artistic works are characterized by intricate layers of fabric, representing her journey of self-mending. With deep ties to the manual craftsmanship, her art reflects the acceptance of existing between contrasting states, both physically and emotionally. As part of this recognition, BE OPEN will present Isabella with a €500 grant to support her ongoing artistic journey.
