Cartier Initiates Comprehensive Metallurgical Testing Program

Cartier's New Metallurgical Testwork at the Cadillac Project

In a significant move for the mining industry, Cartier Resources Inc. (TSX-V: ECR) has commenced a pioneering metallurgical testing program at its Cadillac Project. This initiative marks a key step towards optimizing gold recovery and ensuring economically viable operations. The contract for this crucial work has been awarded to Soutex, an esteemed firm known for its expertise in mineral processing and metallurgy. This collaboration aims to implement advanced testing protocols to assess the efficacy of gold extraction methods.

Objectives of the Metallurgical Program

The primary objective of this program is to enhance gold recovery rates from the project’s mineralized deposits, including both the historic Chimo deposit and the lesser-known East Chimo and West Nordeau deposits. Historic processing efforts have yielded solid results, and with the introduction of modern technologies, the Company expects to make significant improvements in recovery rates.

Key Goals of the Testing

The metallurgical program aims to:

  • Define comprehensive gold recovery rates and surpass historical outcomes from the Chimo deposit.
  • Establish foundational metallurgical recovery data for the East Chimo and West Nordeau satellite deposits, where prior information was lacking.
  • Develop an integrated process flowsheet that enhances recovery efficiency and reduces costs.
  • Provide essential data for future trade-off studies that will inform project development and execution.

Philippe Cloutier, President and CEO of Cartier, highlighted the importance of this initiative, stating, "The metallurgical program represents a critical de-risking milestone to advance the development of the Cadillac Project. By understanding how the mineralized material responds to conventional processing methods, we can define the most efficient and cost-effective flowsheet. This not only aims to reduce both capital and operational expenditures but also enhances our environmental compliance. The insights derived from these tests will fortify the project's technical framework and offer greater value for our shareholders."

Historical Insights on Gold Recovery

Historically, the Chimo mine, part of the Cadillac Project, produced approximately 2.4 million tonnes of mineralized material processed by various operators between 1966 and 1997. Notably, during this timeframe, the average recovery rate was around 90.6% of the total gold content recovered from the ore. While operators like Chimo Gold Mines and Louvem achieved impressive extraction results of approximately 94%, later operations experienced a decline, reinforcing the need for up-to-date testing and evaluation.

Importance of Current Data

Given that existing data is nearly three decades old, the need for updated empirical evidence has drawn significant emphasis from Cartier's leadership. This detailed metallurgical test program is designed to evaluate the mineralized material effectively, assess the potential for gold recovery, and refine essential parameters for future engineering and economic evaluations.

Methodology Behind the Testwork Program

To achieve the outlined objectives, the testwork program will focus on NQ-size half-drill core samples that represent the varied mineralization types and average grades present in the resource. A combination of six composites will be created, totaling 300 kg from the three deposits. The combined efforts of Cartier's geologists will ensure that these composites are accurately representative.

Testing will include various methods, from cyanidation at multiple grind sizes to gravimetric separation and cyanide destruction of the gravity tails. This thorough methodology will facilitate a robust understanding of the mineralized material’s grindability and overall behavior in processing scenarios.

About Soutex and Expertise

Soutex, a consulting firm with a substantial footprint in mineral processing, has been selected for its extensive experience that spans both theoretical and practical aspects of mineral extraction. Founded in 2000, Soutex employs over 40 specialists in the field, working with clients both locally and internationally. Their capabilities range from conceptual development to operational support, making them a valuable partner in Cartier's metallurgical program.

About the Cadillac Project

The Cadillac Project itself encompasses a vast area of 14,000 hectares along a notable 15-kilometer stretch of the Cadillac Fault, highlighting its significance within the Val-d’Or mining district. This expansive land package integrates both the historical Chimo Mine and the East Cadillac projects, establishing a commanding position in one of the world’s foremost gold mining districts. The strategic location of the project, characterized by strong infrastructure and nearby milling capacity, promises a fruitful economic future.

Recent assessments have indicated that using a projected gold price, the project could yield substantial returns over its operational lifespan, emphasizing the importance of continuing exploration and testing efforts.

About Cartier Resources Inc.

Founded in 2006, Cartier Resources Inc. is dedicated to maximizing shareholder value through targeted exploration and development within one of Canada’s prolific mining camps. The Company’s commitment to high-quality exploration, paired with its strategic approach toward advancing the Cadillac Project, is designed to unlock the immense potential that resides within its gold landholdings.
