The scarcity of antimony metal, coupled with restrictions imposed by China, has dramatically increased its price from an average of 12,000 euros per ton in 2023 to around 40,000 euros per ton now."

De Vos explains, "This price increase gives an enormous boost to our profitability. While 2024 began with low demand for antimony trioxide due to a sluggish European economy, we have seen a change in dynamics since September when China imposed restrictions. Campine has now emerged as the world leader in supplying trioxide for flame retardants and as catalysts for PET polymer production. As a result, we are experiencing a shift of overseas business to our company, thanks to our position as the largest producer outside of China and our independence from Chinese antimony metal supplies. Our factory is currently operating at full capacity."
