Celebrating Bullfrog Spas: A Milestone in the Spa Industry
Crack open a cold one, because Bullfrog Spas is having quite the party—marking 30 years in the hot tub game. Starting from scratch in 1996 with just two employees, they’ve now got nearly 600 folks on the payroll and a whopping 280,000 spas under their belt. That's no small feat in an industry that can be as cold as the water in a neglected hot tub.
The Birth of an Innovator
Bullfrog's roots go back to David Ludlow, a guy fed up with fixing leaky hot tubs from his father’s pool business. He knew there had to be a better way, and that line of thinking led to the creation of the JetPak Therapy System®. This clever innovation has since transformed how spas are engineered, offering a personalized hydromassage experience that really hits the spot.
It's a story all too familiar to the entrepreneurial hustle. Early on, the company snagged six patents and started building a full line of spas. Talk about a splash!
Expansion and Commitment to Innovation
Growth wasn’t just a nascent dream—it was a full-throttle reality. By 2003, Bullfrog flew the coop to a larger facility in Bluffdale, ramping up production power. Fast forward to today, and they’ve made moves into a 286,000-square-foot headquarters in Herriman. Their appetite for growth is as strong as ever, launching new product lines and breaking into markets across Europe and beyond.
- 1996: Two employees, 24 spas
- 2023: 590 employees
- Nearly 280,000 spas produced over 30 years
A business culture like theirs, built on commitment and innovation, isn't concocted overnight. It's an emblem of perseverance and the belief that good water makes for good vibes.
The Vision for the Future
CEO Dan Sjoblom is pumping the company full of optimism for its next chapter. He’s shouting out to the employees who've poured their sweat into building this spa empire. As they're gearing up for another 30 years, they’re setting their sights not just on bigger numbers, but even better customer experiences.
It's a tightrope walk between honoring the traditions that built the company and fearing stagnation, but Bullfrog seems ready to leap. Their commitment to, as Sjoblom puts it, "investing in innovation, people, and better products," is a solid strategy to stay afloat in any economic storm.
Thirty Years and Counting
From those early startup days in Salt Lake City to becoming a recognized leader in the spa industry, Bullfrog’s story is a testament to ambition. It's a tale of perseverance that investors might find compelling, especially if the next wave of innovation keeps rolling in. A thriving workforce, a solid network of dealers, and a passion for bettering people's lives keep them jumping into the deep end with confidence. Here's to another 30 years of making waves—cheers to that!
