Major Expansion of Lithium Pegmatite Field by Brunswick Exploration
Brunswick Exploration Inc. (TSX-V: BRW, OTCQB: BRWXF; FRANKFURT:1XQ) recently announced a remarkable achievement in its exploration activities, identifying the largest spodumene pegmatite trend in the country. This latest discovery has dramatically expanded the Ivisaartoq lithium pegmatite field, initially found last year. The new trend now boasts an extensive strike length of around 2 kilometers.
Killian Charles, the President and CEO of Brunswick Exploration, expressed pride in the systematic approach that led to this important finding. He credits the dedication of the BRW team and their collaborations with notable organizations, such as Xploration Services Greenland A/S and the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, for their pivotal roles in this success.
The exploration efforts embody Brunswick Exploration's commitment to a thorough and methodical exploration process. The company is currently strategizing an optimal timeline for launching a comprehensive drill campaign at the Ivisaartoq site.
Ivisaartoq Pegmatite Discovery Insights
In their ongoing work, Brunswick Exploration has uncovered a minimum of eight pegmatite outcrops situated within a corridor that spans approximately 2,000 meters in length and 300 meters in width. This identified corridor is prominent and remains open for further exploration in all directions. Notably, this spodumene corridor exists within a larger area that exhibits geochemical anomalies, measuring roughly 3 kilometers by 1.5 kilometers, which harbors several additional fractionated pegmatites.
The potential for discovering more spodumene pegmatites both at the surface and at depth appears promising within this corridor and the broader geochemically favorable envelope, including the entire south Ivisaartoq belt that stretches approximately 20 kilometers.
Characteristics of the Spodumene Outcrops
The appearance of the spodumene outcrops varies significantly, ranging from around 5 to 400 meters in length and 2 to 40 meters in width. The lithium mineralization predominantly consists of spodumene, which can reach concentrations of up to 50%. The crystals found vary from white to pale green and typically range in size from 1 to 40 centimeters. Additionally, minor lithium-bearing minerals include holmquistite, elbaite, and lepidolite located within the host rocks.
Brunswick Exploration is actively arranging an inaugural drill campaign aimed at evaluating these newly identified outcrops, further validating their exploration findings.
Confirmation of Spodumene Mineralization
The presence of spodumene mineralization in the newly discovered outcrops has been substantiated through advanced techniques such as pXRF and LIBS. Grab and channel samples are currently being dispatched for analysis to ALS in Dublin, Ireland, where thin section samples will also undergo preparation for mineralogical examination. The forthcoming drill campaign is expected to yield more detailed insights regarding the size, orientation, and overall grade of these pegmatite outcrops.
