Major Discovery at Wabamisk Property
Azimut Exploration Inc. is thrilled to share the recent discovery of a significant spodumene pegmatite field at its wholly-owned Wabamisk Property. This property spans 39 kilometers in a renowned prospective area for lithium exploration. The discovery showcases the potential of the Lithos target, which remains open for further exploration.
High-Grade Lithium Results
Recent surface sampling has yielded remarkable results, indicating highly encouraging lithium concentrations. With samples showing grades as high as 7.43% Li2O, the findings point to a promising trove of lithium-bearing minerals over an expansive 4 square kilometer area with a variety of dip angles and orientations for the pegmatites.
Fieldwork and Future Drilling Plans
Fieldwork to better delineate this exciting area is set to commence in spring 2025, paving the way for a follow-up diamond drilling campaign. The discovery was made while examining a historical grab sample with notable lithium content.
The Significance of the James Bay Region
The James Bay region emerges as a globally significant area for lithium, enhancing the potential for lucrative resource development. With ongoing initiatives to assess lithium-rich zones, Azimut is at the forefront of resource exploration in this promising market.
Antimony-Gold Corridor Prospects
The Wabamisk Property is also home to a noteworthy 3.5-kilometer-long antimony-gold corridor, known as the Fortin Zone. Azimut has already initiated a comprehensive 5,000-meter diamond drilling program to explore this area, underlining their dedication to uncovering mineral resources.
Exploration Highlights
This latest round of sampling involved a total of 86 rock samples. Although grab samples are selective, they are critical in identifying potential hotspots. The findings reveal that numerous unexplored pegmatite outcrops still exist in the vicinity, suggesting a wealth of opportunities for further discovery.
Sampling Achievements
A significant proportion of the samples returned grades exceeding 0.5% Li2O. Notably, several samples reached impressive thresholds: 8 samples graded between 0.5% and 1.0% Li2O, 41 in the 1.0% to 3.0% range, and 23 samples exceeded 3.0%, underscoring the area's rich mineral potential.
Insights into Pegmatite Characteristics
Geological assessments have noted that the spodumene crystals are predominantly coarse, with dimensions reaching up to 50 cm. They exhibit a range of hues, from whitish to greenish, and occur in conjunction with quartz and feldspar. The presence of holmquistite, a lithium-bearing amphibole, in surrounding rocks further highlights the mineral richness of this zone.
Overview of the Wabamisk Property
The Wabamisk Property is strategically located with major powerlines and transportation routes enhancing its accessibility. This sizable project encompasses 544 claims, ensuring that Azimut has substantial control over its exploration endeavors.
