Aspen University Upgrades to HCM1 Payment Method
Aspen Group, Inc. ("AGI" or the "Company") (OTCQB: ASPU), a forward-thinking education technology holding company, has announced that Aspen University ("AU") has successfully moved from the Heightened Cash Monitoring 2 ("HCM2") status to the Heightened Cash Monitoring 1 ("HCM1") status as designated by the U.S. Department of Education (“DOE”). This significant change took effect on August 16, 2024.
Previously, while operating under the HCM2 payment method, Aspen University had to manage student financial aid disbursements using its own institutional funds. This process required submitting a Reimbursement Payment Request to the DOE, with reimbursements being processed only after a detailed review by the DOE. The transition to HCM1 now enables Aspen University to continue disbursing financial aid from its institutional funds, but with a more straightforward reimbursement process. Under HCM1, the university can submit disbursement records directly to the DOE system, allowing for immediate access to the funds necessary to cover those disbursements. This change is anticipated to stabilize the Company’s unrestricted cash balances and improve its financial management practices.
