AnorTech Completes Field Program at Gronne Bjerg Project

AnorTech Wraps Up Field Program at Gronne Bjerg Project

ANORTECH INC. (“AnorTech” or the “Company”) (TSX Venture Exchange “ANOR”; OTC “HUDRF”) is excited to share that it has successfully completed its 2024 field activities at the Gronne Bjerg anorthosite project, which is fully owned by the Company. Situated on open tide water near Nuuk, this project is strategically located next to significant hydroelectric potential.

During the 2024 program, the team collected essential baseline environmental data as part of the project's environmental impact assessment. Additionally, a 20-tonne bulk sample was extracted to support ongoing research and development efforts focused on the Company’s innovative, sustainable technologies that utilize anorthosite (calcium aluminum silicate).

Environmental Baseline Program

The environmental baseline program, conducted by WSP (Denmark), involved marine and terrestrial sampling, along with an assessment of the ecological conditions in the area. This evaluation was further enhanced by gathering data on local wildlife and bird populations. The information collected will be integrated into the environmental impact assessment (EIA). To complete the EIA, two years of baseline environmental data are necessary. Once the EIA is finalized and project parameters are established, the Company will be in a position to submit an application for an exploitation license, which is anticipated to be ready by 2026.

Bulk Sample Extraction

A 20-tonne sample of anorthosite was extracted from the base of the Gronne Bjerg project. This rock sample was crushed in Nuuk before being packaged for transport to Canada. The bulk sample will primarily be used to advance the Company’s efforts in commercializing its waste-free, sustainable alumina process, with pilot-scale testing expected to begin in early 2025. The goal is to conduct this pilot plant work in partnership with an aluminum industry collaborator. Additionally, some of the material will be utilized by the Danish Technological Institute to assist with ongoing tests aimed at producing a CO2-free refractory cement product and applications for thermal energy storage systems.

Sustainable Innovations and Future Plans

Jim Cambon, President of AnorTech, emphasized that extracting this bulk sample is a crucial step toward commercializing a smelter-grade alumina product sourced from anorthosite. The initial baseline environmental work also brings the Company closer to submitting its application for an exploitation license at Gronne Bjerg. The research and development programs focused on sustainable, waste-free alumina and CO2-free refractory cement are progressing well, with updates expected in the upcoming months.

With over 10 years of experience in developing sustainable products from anorthosite, AnorTech is poised to make a significant impact across various global markets. The Company aims to leverage the findings from the 2024 R&D initiatives to attract international partners in key industries, accelerating the path to commercialization.

Benefits of Anorthosite

Producing smelter-grade alumina from anorthosite offers a groundbreaking zero-waste solution that significantly reduces the environmental footprint associated with traditional alumina production from bauxite. Typically, bauxite production generates nearly four tonnes of caustic tailings waste for every tonne of aluminum produced, making AnorTech's technology particularly attractive to aluminum manufacturers. The Company is focused on providing the aluminum industry with a cost-effective alumina feed product that is high-quality, zero-waste, and generates valuable by-products such as calcium silicate and amorphous silica.

CO2-Free Cement Innovations

The CO2-free cement produced from anorthosite eliminates the need for clinker, which is known to emit over 800 kg of CO2 for every tonne of cement manufactured. Preliminary tests have successfully shown that a white refractory (heat-resistant) cement can be created, presenting opportunities for a premium cement product.

Investment and Financial Position

AnorTech holds a 5% carried interest in the advanced Sarfartoq rare earth element project located in Western Greenland, which has been sold to Neo Performance Materials. Recent field activities, including drilling, were conducted on the Sarfartoq project in 2023, with additional work planned for 2024 to further develop this vital mineral project. The Company is in a strong financial position, with approximately $3 million in cash available.

Company Leadership

Jim Cambon serves as both President and Director of AnorTech. Under his guidance, the Company remains dedicated to creating innovative, sustainable solutions in the mineral resources sector.
