Anaergia Partners with PepsiCo for Sustainable Energy Solutions

Anaergia Inc. (“Anaergia” or the “Company”) (TSX: ANRG) has announced an exciting collaboration with PepsiCo Alimentos Z.F. LTDA. This partnership aims to implement advanced technology at PepsiCo's food production facility in Colombia. The key element of this agreement involves Anaergia's highly efficient biogas digestion solutions which will play a crucial role in transforming organic waste into renewable energy.

Transforming Organic Waste into Renewable Energy

Under this integrated technology supply contract, Anaergia's innovative system is set to process around 50,000 tons of organic waste each year. This waste is generated during the food production process at PepsiCo's facility in Funza, located in the Metropolitan Area of Bogotá.

Through this cutting-edge biogas system, PepsiCo will be able to convert the organic residues into renewable natural gas (RNG). The produced RNG will significantly offset the dependency on fossil natural gas, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is estimated that this initiative will cut CO2 emissions by up to 3,700 tons annually, aligning with global sustainability goals.

Corporate Sustainability Commitment

Jim Andrews, Chief Sustainability Officer at PepsiCo, emphasized the importance of these sustainable practices in the company’s operations. "By utilizing Anaergia’s solutions at our Funza facility, we will be turning our waste streams into renewable energy. This project reflects our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and advancing our sustainability objectives,” said Andrews.

Benefits of Renewable Natural Gas

The engagement between Anaergia and PepsiCo marks a transformative step in the food production industry’s approach to waste management. Anaergia's technology not only helps in creating energy but also contributes to a circular economy by using natural resources wisely. As renewable natural gas becomes a pivotal alternative to traditional energy sources, companies like PepsiCo are leading the charge toward more sustainable practices.

Anaergia's Global Reach

This initiative is part of Anaergia's broader vision of applying its proprietary technologies across various continents. Assaf Onn, CEO of Anaergia stated, “South America is now the third continent where we are delivering sustainable energy solutions to PepsiCo. Our mission is to assist customers in achieving their environmental and economic goals by converting organic waste into valuable resources.”

What Sets Anaergia Apart?

Anaergia specializes in recovering resources from organic waste, transforming what is typically a waste product into energy, fertilizers, and clean water. Their innovative technologies are at the forefront of addressing pressing global challenges associated with waste management. Anaergia's commitment to sustainability not only lowers emissions but also reduces overall costs associated with waste disposal and treatment.
