Adleigh Mayes Takes the NUTmobile on a Joyful Journey

Adleigh Mayes Hits the Road with the NUTmobile

Fresh from completing her studies, FHU alumna Adleigh Mayes embarked on an exciting journey with the iconic Planters NUTmobile. This whimsical, 26-foot peanut-shaped vehicle represents a unique opportunity for Mayes and her teammates, known as "Peanutters," to connect with people while generously sharing delicious salted and honey roasted peanut samples.

A Special Homecoming at FHU

The visit to Freed-Hardeman University marked a joyful homecoming for Mayes. Just months prior, she sat in the very classrooms where she honed her communication skills, which now serve her well on this remarkable journey. "I feel like I'm living a dream right now," she shared, recalling the anticipation and excitement that accompanied the decision to apply for this one-of-a-kind position.

From Aspirant to Peanut Pioneers

When her father spotted the job listing for the NUTmobile position, he immediately recognized the perfect opportunity for his daughter, who hails from Dothan, Alabama, famously known as the peanut capital. "He playfully encouraged me to apply, and I jumped at the chance among hundreds of other hopefuls," Mayes explained. Throughout the rigorous application process, she gained confidence as she advanced to interviews, ultimately culminating in a final selection round in Chicago with only eight finalists.

Life on the Road

The trio, including fellow graduates Hudson Ritchie and Aria Conte, share the responsibilities of driving, scheduling visits, and even working on fun projects together. Their travels took them across various cities in the Midwest and East, and they have plans to journey further south before heading to San Francisco for the Super Bowl.

Building Connections Across the Country

Throughout this cross-country adventure, Mayes and her teammates embrace their roles as brand ambassadors, interacting with diverse communities and forging connections wherever they go. "We're like siblings — we get along so well. This job requires you to be adaptable and approachable, especially when driving a giant peanut so that people naturally want to engage with us," she described enthusiastically.

Learns from the Past

As the Peanutters visit their alma maters, Mayes reflects on the value of her education. Her communication classes have proven integral to her current work, from crafting reports to pitching their delightful visits. "The skills I acquired from FHU are invaluable in my role today, helping me articulate our mission and create meaningful interactions with people across America," she remarked.

The Mission of Freed-Hardeman University

Freed-Hardeman University places great emphasis on nurturing students' capabilities along with their God-given talents. The institution's mission revolves around fostering an education that beautifully intertwines Christian faith, scholarship, and community service. Serving as a strong foundation for students like Mayes, FHU helps shape their futures as they seek to create a positive impact on the world.
