AARP Pennsylvania Begins Grant Applications for Community Improvements
The annual program aims to create more livable environments for individuals of all ages in Pennsylvania.
AARP Pennsylvania is calling on nonprofit organizations and governmental entities to apply for the 2026 AARP Community Challenge grant program. This program, which is open for applications until March 4, 2026, focuses on funding quick-turnaround projects designed to enhance community livability.
Celebrating its tenth anniversary, AARP will increase its financial commitment by awarding over $8 million in grants this year. These grants align with AARP's Livable Communities initiative, which encourages cities, towns, and neighborhoods to create spaces that cater to everyone, especially those aged 50 and above.
Bill Johnston-Walsh, the State Director of AARP Pennsylvania, shared, "The Community Challenge grant program helps AARP work with local residents and policymakers to enhance life quality for all, with special attention to older Pennsylvanians. We are thrilled to offer more support this year while furthering our mission to build vibrant communities throughout the Commonwealth."
The AARP Community Challenge accepts applications for three distinct grant categories, ensuring all projects are in line with AARP's commitment to serving older individuals and meet specific eligibility guidelines.
