"Strong and Atmospheric. Harvey Keitel gives the whole film a special touch and the very thing that makes this film really what it is: an impressive piece." - City of Cinema
Inspired by true events, CHOSEN tells the epic journey of Sonson, a Hungarian Jew, trying to keep the promise he's made to his wife on her deathbed. Set in the winter of 1943, Sonson embarks on a life-changing mission into the Warsaw Ghetto to save his sister-in-law from being deported to Auschwitz. Director Jasmin Dizdar skillfully creates a historic frame for his intimate tale, supported by a nuanced performance of Harvey Keitel.
CHOSEN features an incredible cast, including a supporting role from Hollywood legend Harvey Keitel in a war story inspired by actual events that is as audacious as it is incredible. The production values are outstanding, the action sequences stunning and the overall look of a classic film masterpiece, told by one of the world's most respected directors, Cannes Film Festival winner, Jasmin Dizdar (Un Certain Regard, Beautiful People).
Lead actor Luke Malby (28 Days Later, Combat Hospital) shines as the heroic, conflicted Sonson - his transformation into an SS officer is a stand-out scene; while Ana Ularu (Inferno) shows she's a star on the rise as the brave and resourceful Judith. Legendary actor Harvey Keitel (Pulp Fiction, Grand Budapest Hotel) is on top form as a man haunted by his past.
A mix of the likes of Defiance and Schindler's List, and featuring battle sequences that are comparable to scenes from Saving Private Ryan, CHOSEN is a powerful and haunting testament to the human spirit, a portrait of humanity in the depths of war that is brilliantly evoked, thrillingly effective and frighteningly prescient.
International distribution of CHOSEN is being handled by Premiere Entertainment, and North American home video and digital distribution are being handled by Grindstone Entertainment Group and Lionsgate Home Entertainment. "CHOSEN" is a Sterling Pictures Production in association with Pluribus Unum, produced by Michael Riley, written by Gabriel De Mercur and co-produced by Tim Dennison. Director of Photography is Balazs Bolygo, VFX by Film Gate Films, Sound by Warner Brothers De Lane Lea Studios, and final picture by The Look, London.
Medallion Releasing, Inc. and Big Hat Enterprises, Inc. are affiliates of Hannover House, Inc., an independent film and video distribution company founded in 1993.
