Facebook CEO Takes A Stand Against Trump With This Epic Message, Trump Is Furious

Earlier this week, 100+ employees of major tech companies sent a powerful message to President-elect Donald Trump by signing an open letter that stated they would not use their talents to help Trump’s administration surveil Muslims or deport immigrants. It seems that one major company has heard their message loud and and clear, and has decided to join them in taking a stand.

Facebook announced today that the company would not help Trump in his quest to build a Muslim registry. This announcement came after a coalition of 22 advocacy groups that represented 35 million people begged tech giants not to be involved in this Islamophobic initiative. The coalition sent letters to tech giants like Google, Apple, Microsoft, IBM, and Facebook – and Facebook has been the first organization to respond to the letters so far.
Facebook released a statement to The Intercept, which stated:
“No one has asked us to build a Muslim registry, and of course we would not do so.”
In making this company policy, Facebook has joined Twitter, the only other tech company to publicly state that it would not be involved in the Muslim registry. Social change network Credo Action praised Facebook for standing up to bigotry. CREDO Senior Campaign Manager Heidi Hess said:
“CREDO applauds Facebook’s statement affirming that the company will not help Trump build a Muslim registry if asked to do so. If Trump follows through on his campaign promise to build a Muslim registry, leading tech companies may be our last line of defense against Trump’s bigotry and discrimination. Other tech giants like Google and Microsoft must take a moral stand now and publicly announce that they will not play any role in Trump’s chilling efforts to create a Muslim registry.”
