In an exciting announcement, Svitzer, a prominent marine services provider, recently signed a contract with the renowned Cheoy Lee Shipyards based in Hong Kong. This contract allows for the construction of four Svitzer TRAnsverse 2900 tugs, which are scheduled for delivery in 2026. With this order, Svitzer will have seven tugs of the TRAnsverse design in total, complementing the one already in operational use.
The design of the TRAnsverse tug was a collaborative effort between Svitzer and the highly regarded naval architect firm, Robert Allan Ltd. Each tug will feature an impressive overall length of 29 meters and is capable of a powerful bollard pull of up to 80 tonnes. The tugs will also boast remarkable side pushing capabilities and achieve a top speed of 13 knots, with an impressive side-stepping speed of 8 knots.
