Generally speaking, the plaintiffs are distinct from the class members (they are plaintiffs and class members). The plaintiffs are the ones who file the suit and have to have standing. Generally that is a small number of parties. Effectively, they are representatives of the class.
But the class membership will typically extend to all the shareholders of record during that time frame. That means most of us on this board (at least those that held shares during that time frame).
So if this is approved by the judge, then I would expect everyone who held shares at that time to get a notice of being included in the class.
Unfortunately, a lot of the payout typically goes to the attorneys for the plaintiffs. We'll have to see the final details after they emerge.
