In addition, I'm sure that if a company officer contemplated a share purchase that they are probably well aware that large purchases or any updrafts in buying pressure are often greeted with a smash-down by the market manipulators comprised of corporate entities, hedge funds and minions acting on the entity(ies) behalf, and day traders along for the ride. In that case, better to take the stock options and work to make the company successful, particularly if the cash compensation part of your pay is lower than you want or need.

You might wonder what is the motive for the market manipulators. That is easily answered if you ask yourself the key question: Who stands to gain by keeping the share price suppressed and starving a pre-revenue company of funding sources? When you ask that question, a list of the usual suspects such as competitors, profiteers, and others becomes obvious.

The only anecdote is clinical trials, data, and anonymous donors and funders, which is the correct course and the course the company is pursuing.
