Comerica Bank and Griffins Join Forces to Tackle Hunger
Comerica and Grand Rapids Griffins Unite Again for Kids' Food Basket
Comerica Bank and the Grand Rapids Griffins have once again partnered to support a noble cause, striving to combat childhood hunger with a special initiative that benefits the Kids' Food Basket (KFB). This collaboration aims to raise awareness and collection of non-perishable food items through a four-week food drive, running at select banking centers.
How You Can Help
From now until October 17, community members are encouraged to drop off designated non-perishable food items at participating Comerica banking centers. Each item donated earns the donor valuable ticket vouchers for upcoming Griffins home games during the 2024-25 season at Van Andel Arena. For every five items dropped off, donors can receive a ticket voucher, up to a maximum of four vouchers for 20 items donated.
Exciting Outcomes from Last Year's Partnership
The previous food drive was a resounding success, resulting in over 3,300 items donated to KFB along with charitable contributions totaling $15,000 from Comerica. This year, the initiative hopes to build on that momentum and further alleviate food insecurity in local communities.
Community Involvement
Debra Van Hevele, the Senior Vice President and Retail Regional Director at Comerica Bank, emphasized the importance of such community partnerships, noting, "With the success of last season's food drive partnership with the Griffins, we wanted to build on this relationship and continue helping reduce food insecurity in our communities." Community spirit is a strong motivator here, and local fans are encouraged to rally together, donate generously, and witness the direct impact on children's lives.
What to Donate
The KFB's Wish List includes essential non-perishable food items like fruit cups, meat sticks, cheese crackers, pudding cups, and more. These donations will greatly assist KFB in their mission to distribute nutritious meals to children in need.
Celebrating Contributions to Local Children
In a show of gratitude for the support received, Comerica Bank and the Griffins will announce the total amount of food collected during the second home game of the season. Fans can enjoy the game while knowing that their contributions have made a meaningful difference in fighting hunger.

Continuing the Legacy
With a longstanding commitment to community service, Comerica Bank celebrates its 175-year legacy this year. Founded in Detroit in 1849, it has always aimed to empower the local community, ensuring that everyone has access to financial resources and opportunities that may change their lives. The partnership with KFB underscores that commitment, providing vital support to those in need and creating pathways for brighter futures.
