The Company also reported record diluted earnings per share of $0.89 for the quarter compared with $0.86 for the third quarter of 2012, representing an increase of $0.03, or 3.5%. The Company's annualized return on average shareholders' equity amounted to 11.73% for the quarter, up from 10.49% in the third quarter of 2012. The Company's third quarter return on average assets amounted to 1.02%, compared with 1.05% in the third quarter of 2012.

Simard of TD Bank as the next President and CEO of Bar Harbor Bankshares and its wholly owned subsidiary Bar Harbor Bank & Trust. Simard's selection follows the previously-announced planned retirement of Joseph M. Murphy scheduled for the end of June, 2013. Murphy has served as the CEO of BHB since 2002.
